Tommaso Farinetti

Tommaso Farinetti is an Italian classical piano performer and composer with musical interests ranging from the romantic repertoire for solo piano to the experiments of free improvisation and modern electronic music.
He cultivates an intense artistic activity in Germany, as a soloist and with projects in an ensemble playing concerts in prestigious halls such as the Isarphilarmonie, Prinzregentertheater, Künstlerhaus, and Gasteig. Among all the projects the „Minimal Duo“ with the pianist Serena Chillemi stands out, which aims to spread the mostly unexplored repertoire of minimal music for two pianos. He performs world premieres for the international composition Carl-Orff competition and he is linked by a fruitful collaboration with the Münchnern Symphoniker orchestra.
He is also passionate about contemporary Italian history and collaborates with MNEO (the Italian Memory Archive) on the composition of the original music for a series of six documentaries that give voice to a moving story of the witnesses of the beginning of the Covid pandemic in Italy in 2020: “Through the walls. Stories at the time of the pandemic “. The film version of this huge work became a feature film broadcast in prime time on the Italian network television Rete 4. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Bologna massacre at the central train station in 1980, he has soundtracked the documentary film "Our truths" on the testimonies of survivors.
He explores ever new languages and experiments with forms of performance in unusual places, such as the concert at sunrise on top of the disused tower of the NATO base on the Hoher Bogen mountain in Bavaria, a few kilometres from the border with the Czech Republic, which belonged to the Soviet Union until 1989. Music suspended between two worlds.
